A small storage unit may be a good option if you’re looking to downsize your office or garage. That’s great! It’s extremely popular. It is common in nearly every US city to have a mini storage unit. Here are some things you can do in order to get the most out of your storage units, find out more. These are storage tips my family has used over the years.
Tip One – Keeping your stuff dry.
Use cargo pallets to dry out boxed items. This isn’t due to snow or rain, but rather the changing seasons. Concrete floors are more sensitive to heat than the ground in springtime. When the temperature rises, concrete floors will sweat. The pallets will increase the air circulation and allow items to be stored on pallets. Allow for more air movement by leaving some space between the walls of your storage units and your stored objects.
Tip Two – Keep commonly used items near your front door.
It’s a good idea for you to store items that you are likely to use often in your storage area. It’s dangerous, and it can also lead to wasting time looking through hundreds upon hundreds of boxes for what you want. If you have kids who want everything, like my sons, I find golf a lot of fun. They’re kept in my storage box which I use when not being used. When I need them, I can always find them at the entrance of the unit. Grab them and get on your way!
Tip Three: Check your homeowner and automobile insurance policies.
Make sure you check the homeowner’s or renter’s policies for coverage on goods stored at rental properties. Many mini storage facilities offer coverage for your goods in the case of a disaster. But, it does not typically cover damaged items or items damaged because of poor handling or packing. You can insure your chinaware collection as well as your classic vehicle.
